Ari Lehman holds a unique place in horror history as the first actor ever to portray Jason Voorhees, appearing as the young Jason in the unforgettable final sequence of the original Friday the 13th (1980), where he suddenly emerges from Crystal Lake. Lehman was a teenager when director Sean S. Cunningham cast him, reportedly after simply asking whether he could swim. Beyond horror, Lehman is a classically trained pianist, composer, singer and musician who studied jazz piano and orchestration at NYU and later toured internationally. He eventually embraced his horror legacy by forming the metal band First Jason, combining his music career with the character that made him part of one of cinema’s most iconic horror franchise
