Vice President Harris and running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) on Wednesday evening are holding an event at Detroit Metro Airport, rounding out a day of campaign appearances in the upper Midwest swing states by both parties.
Their itinerary, which included a rally in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, that afternoon, is the mirror image of that taken by GOP vice presidential nominee JD Vance. The Ohio senator visited a police station in suburban Detroit this morning before heading to Eau Claire himself. At the Wisconsin appearance, Vance told journalists that he’d taken a look at Air Force Two at the airport, quipping, “I just wanted to check out my future plane.”
The prime time visit by candidates Harris and Walz follows a wave of strengthening support in Michigan for the Democratic ticket following its change in lineup.
